About us

Bloom is the result of the coming together of two Latina best friends, Dominicanas to be exact, born and raised in Washington Heights coming together to create a safe space for the community to gather.

The vision behind Bloom was the result of a vision board that sought to put dreams on paper and now blooms from paper to physical space. We opened Bloom with the goal of providing that cafecito that brings the community together or that warm meal that is at the center of many laughs over the dinner table.

Sammy brings her love of people and good vibes to Bloom. As a teacher in Washington Heights, Sammy thrives on continuing to provide spaces that are welcoming, safe, and a home away from home for all. Being a role model and showing kids from our community that all dreams are attainable even from our very own little community in the Heights is the goal. Being born and raised in Washington Heights and now being able to become a part of the thriving restaurant scene is nothing short of surreal.

A perfect example of how sometimes your greatest dream is right in your backyard...waiting to Bloom. Melanie has been obsessed with cafe’s since studying abroad in Madrid during her undergraduate career at NYU. She’s been chasing the cozy vibe that can serve a dual purpose ever since; a place to sit down and get some work done and also meet friends to catch up and have drinks with. Growing up in Washington Heights, it only seemed right to give back to the community a place where everyone can meet, feel comfortable, and make their own dreams come true.
